The non-CFI spin training is an abbreviated course that does not include a spin
endorsement.
1. Review stalls and spins. I will give you an in depth class on stalls, spins, spin
scenarios, and spin recovery. Plan on about 3-4 hours of ground, including the
local area orientation, aircraft pre-flight and bail out brief.
2. Some good sources of information on spins for reading ahead:
3. I teach the PARE© spin recovery method as developed by Rich Stowell.
4. The flying itself will last about .7-1.5 hour, depending on how in depth the pilot
wants to get with spins; how many flights the pilot wants. We will normally use
the 8KCAB Super Decathlon. Additional training is available in the Cessna 172 if
desired and if weight and balance permits.
5. Maneuvers covered:
- "Dutch Rolls". Sorry, not the kind you eat.
- "Boxing the wake". Good aileron/rudder coordination exercise.
- Slow flight
- Stalls
- Demonstration of "reverse command" while in a "deep" stall
- One turn spins, recovery.
- Demonstration of pro-spin inputs and the effect on the spin (power, aileron,
elevator).
- Different Spin scenarios.
- Demonstration of Super Decathlon tendency not to spin when stalled in a slip.
6. Debrief
